It’s been absolutely amazing to work with the seminal New York group credited as the earliest influence on hip-hop music. The Last Poets have been performing for 50 years. Formed on May 19, 1968 (Malcolm X’s birthday), at Marcus Garvey Park in East Harlem, the recent gig in London at LayLow was the 50th anniversary of that event. James Allsopp and I have been the horn section for their live shows in the UK, which has been a lot of fun.
